Imperial Sand Dunes, California
(a.k.a. Glamis or Algodones Dunes)
Imperial Sand Dunes, also known as the Glamis Dunes or Algodones Dunes, are
mostly in the southeast corner of California (the southern tip of the dune field crosses
into Mexico). If you've ever driven between Arizona and San Diego on Interstate 8
you've driven right through these dunes. Most of these photos of Imperial Sand
Dunes were taken in the North Algodones Wilderness Area (no motorized
access) although some were taken in more popular areas like Competition Hill.
