Canyon de Chelly, Arizona
Canyon de Chelly in northern Arizona is home to ancient cliff dwellings,
contemporary Navajo homes and of course spectacular scenery. It’s also
popular with tourists, so the area is jointly administered by the National Park
Service and the Navajo Nation, the latter of which actually owns the land.
Photographers gravitate toward Spider Rock, which never disappoints, but my
favorite shots were actually taken while hiking the south rim, including images of
picturesque puddles in the sandstone between the more popular lookout points.
