LISTEN TO WOLVES! Listen to an audio recording of Mexican Gray Wolves! I made
this recording late at night on Oct. 18, 2023 while camping near
Reservation Lake on the Fort Apache Reservation in the White Mts. It's just cell phone video so the sound quality
is not great,
and
since
it
was dark there
is no visual to accompany the sound. Still,
you can
easily hear an entire chorus of wolves howling. In addition to howling
you can hear barking, which may sound like domestic dogs but is
in fact also the wolves. As of March 2024 there were an estimated
257 Mexican
Gray Wolves living in the wild in Mexico and the
American southwest. Only 113 of them are in Arizona so I feel very fortunate to have heard them.
