Scholz Lake, Arizona
Scholz Lake isn't very big but it's one of the most pristine lakes in the
greater Flagstaff/Williams region of northern Arizona. A dirt road will
get you within a quarter-mile of the water but the shoreline itself is
refreshingly free of roads, campgrounds, restooms, docks and other
unsightly development. Scholz Lake is also a great place to see birds
including Ospreys, Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons (the north shore
of the lake is closed from Feb. 1 to Aug 1. to protect nesting birds).
