Little Colorado River
at Grand Falls, Arizona
Grand Falls (a.k.a. "Chocolate Falls") is on the Little Colorado River,
which flows through the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona. It's water comes
and goes depending on recent rainfall but if you catch it at the right time the
muddy falls are quite spectacular. Actually, even if you show up during low flow
you can get great photos by trekking to the bottom of the falls for close-up
compositions. If you show up when there's no water at all you can still have
a nice day hiking down the Little Colorado drainage just for the heck of it.
